The annual major painting event, the Sales Event of the Finnish Painters’ Union, is the biggest art event in Finland. Nearly 700 artists take part in the exhibition, putting about 1 700 works of art on display.

Artists Niina Lehtonen Braun, Mikko Kallio and Ilona Valkonen explore collage in different ways in the exhibition at the Aine Art Museum. In the three artists' joint exhibition, collage is understood both as a method in art and as a way of being and thinking in this world. The exhibition consists of installations, animations, works on paper, paintings and object compositions.

The exhibition at the Aine Art Museum will expand on the group’s previous exhibition Melancholy Diorama and the Wonders of Collage - Studio phase, which was on show in Berlin's HilbertRaum art space in spring 2023.

The work of the artists has been supported by Arts Promotion Centre Finland, Kone Foundation and Kordelin Foundation.

Painting goes beyond the frame. It holds a power that reaches far beyond the boundaries of the painting into the world. It is a power that can cause fear, irritation and resistance, and bring well-being and healing. It is located between departure and tradition, it is colour, sound and form, which the material becomes and as which we resonate, as painters as well as viewers. It is formative, agitational, ordering, disturbing, strong.

Galleria Huuto
20th Anniversary Exhibition

Galleria Huuto started to organize exhibitions in 2002, first at Viiskulma in Helsinki. After many eventful and art-filled years, Galleria Huuto is currently located in Kamppi, in the courtyard at Kalevankatu 43. Promoting a sense of community and diversity and offering an outlet for artistic experiments, the project launched by 25 young artists has gradually grown into Finland’s largest artist-run gallery. Today Huuto has 140 members. Every year, more than 50 exhibitions are held at Galleria Huuto, which makes it the biggest operator in Helsinki’s visual arts scene based on its exhibition volume.

In order to celebrate its 20th anniversary, Galleria Huuto will bring together a wide selection of works from its members. In accordance with the gallery’s exhibition policy, the anniversary exhibition Oooooooh! will also be surprising and exceptionally diverse, representing big and small art and everything in between. For the duration of this exhibition, Huuto will double its floor area as works will not only be on display in the actual gallery space but also on the third floor of the building where additional spaces have been rented for this special occasion.
